Hurricane Irma is the BIG one we've always worried about living in Florida.

Living in a mobile home we must evacuate and plan on doing so sometime today. I've experienced a lot of Hurricanes in my 65 years, and this one is a killer! Unfortunately leaving the state is not an option as gas stations are running out of gas. Could be worse off stranded on the highway.

We've made arrangements to stay with friends nearby in a sturdy home. When we leave our mobile home (tin can) as i like to call it, i will be shutting the BBS down and taking our computers with us. Can't afford to replace them.

I will post and other information in this topic regarding the bbs return. Pray for us!

Regards, Ed

OK we made it through hurricane Irma with no damage to our tin can. Others in this park are not as fortunate. Major power outage in Pinellas County.

I will get the bbs back up asap. Might be Tuesday, possibly today if the power comes back on.

Still no power on our street. Was just told by Duke Energy the deadline date is 09/19. Rep couldn't give any details.

It's hot and especially humid down here!

Hang in there dude. We followed the storm from a safe distance (up by Baltimore) during the Cooking Echo picnic. One of the attendees had parental units in a double wide near Deland - so we all sort of had cards in the game.

Glad your tin can is intact. I just abandoned mine for a house after 17 years and 4 tornadoes.

I was going to log in to this part - but, apparently, my BBS log-in ain't valid on this part. I'll keep checking in (daily, at least) hoping for the return of the pup.

ENJOY!!!

I redirected the bbs web login page to this post a few minutes ago. It does not redirect telnet unfortunately.

Duke Energy is starting to annoy me. The pisser is the guy missed our street yesterday when marking the outage resolved.

I'm fixing to call them and say I'm gonna crawl up their pole myself and fix it myself!!! ? ?? ?

I guess I'm fortunate in having a municipally owned electric company. Even when the tornadoes criss-crossed my town people with livable accommodations were only without power for a few hours. Of course in the parts of town that looked like downtown Falujah after multiple air strikes it took longer - but no one was going to be home since their homes (or major parts of them) were three streets over.

If you know what to do - and have a long enough pole to reset breakers on the transformers - go for it. It's easier to get forgiveness than permission.

I'm assuming you have climbing hooks and a belt.

ENJOY!!!

No no climbing equipment. I chuckle thinking about my fat ass climbing that pole.. ?

Was thinking about calling Duke and telling them that thinking they would send someone sooner. They would probably call the county sheriff to report a suicidal person!

Another day starting out with no power.

It's an easy fix. Roll up with bucket truck and reset the breakers on the pole. 5 minutes max! The wires transformer are undamaged.

Poor people living in mobile homes are a low priority to Duke Energy!
