About The SysOp

FidoSysop BBS Main Menu in Terminal Mode (Telnet). Note The Internet Menu Option.

Welcome To FidoSysop’s Tiny Little Piece Of Cyberspace. I’m a disabled / forcefully retired used car dealer (trust-me 😆 ) and ASE certified mechanic, turned self educated Internet webmaster, just hanging out in cyberspace keeping up with tech.

Never being bashful, I often shoot from the hip and say just what is on my mind without sugar-coating it. I never lie or beat around the bush about anything or anyone.

I also have a very outgoing personality and frequently use a few colorful metaphors to describe something or someone. Thick skin is a suggested option around here.

As for my political views, I’m a strong Donald J Trump supporter. President Trump had done a great job so far this term making America Great Again. And has announced running for a second term in 2020. Corporations and Jobs are coming back to America. Trump Tax Reform was a boost for many Americans. Though $1000 was crumbs to some 😡

As a hobbyist i started Doc’s Place computer bulletin board system (BBS) in 1991 that is the longest running Wildcat computer bulletin board system of it’s kind in the USA!

That old BBS still exists today after 27 years of providing Fidonet BBS Messaging to the public. Though the dial-up lines have been disconnected since around 1998.

Being a system operator (SysOp) as it was called back in the disk operating system days was a great way to learn about computers and communicating online. Those were fun times before the net took over. Check out our BBS Documentary Videos to learn more.

Our Net 3603 Sysop meetings were a blast. Monthly hangouts as a group shooting the breeze over lunch. Where to download the latest Desqview & QEMM etc.

Pinellas Net 3603 Sysop meeting at Ryan’s Steak House in Largo FL back in the mid 90’s.

Screenshot of our bbs running under Windows 2000 Pro with several callers online. It’s still going today. Wanna check it out? Use GUEST for username and password.

The good old bbs days back in 2005 accepting callers from the internet. Doc ditched the 3 dial up lines in 1998.

My work background was repairing and selling used cars. Received my dealer license back in 1973. In 1999 i was the 1st Tampa Bay area car dealer to sell automobiles on eBay. That was some experience, good at first, but scams and fraud started chipping away at the founders cornerstone of trust. Auction fraud was overlooked as management stuffed their pockets full of cash, denying fraud existed!

Some of the older articles on this blog are pertaining to Internet car sales. Advising car dealers how to score more leads and sell more cars online. And general webmaster advice about seo and social media marketing. Since then I’ve retired on forced disability due to health issues.

As a hobbyist I’ve turned into one of the best internet webmasters online. Need FREE help with related problems? Contact me. I can also be found on Twitter and Facebook.

We’ve sure came a long way since the early days without the Internet!

Feel free to comment or just say hello below.. 😎

  • Hi,

I am looking for a copy of the wcCODE 4.2 manual or programming guide. I have a copy of the wcCODE software and the help is okay, but I really need the manual. I have searched online and on ebay, but no luck. My copy was lost years ago. I am going to start up my old Wildcat 4.2 ML 10 BBS for a local community project and need to add some needed functionality and make customization's to menu choices. Could you tell me where I might find one?

    • Nope.. Especially V4x DOS, we upgraded to Wildcat V5 in 1998 or so, V5 didn't have diddly for manuals.. Might try asking on the BBS in the Wildcat category.
